Collective Worship and Spirituality

Collective Worship

 

Daily acts of Collective Worship take place at Weston Church of England (Voluntary Controlled) Primary & Nursery School, as follows;

 

  • Monday – Values Collective Worship – led by the Head Teacher
  • Tuesday – Collective Worship – led by the Rector or Diocesan Reader
  • Wednesday – Class Collective Worship – led by each Class Teacher
  • Thursday – Singing Collective Worship – led by the Deputy Head
  • Friday – Celebration Collective Worship – led by the Deputy Head

Parents have a legal right to withdraw their children from Collective Worship. However, having chosen to send their children to Weston Church of England (Voluntary Controlled) Primary & Nursery School, it is hoped that no one will exercise this right. If you wish to discuss this, or any other aspect of Collective Worship with the school, please contact the Head Teacher.

 

Spirituality at Weston CofE (VC) Primary & Nursery School

 

Expressing and putting into words what spirituality actually is can be difficult, as it is a uniquely personal experience and differs from person to person and can change throughout a lifetime.

 

Spirituality is not the same as having a religion or faith; a person can be spiritual without having a particular faith.

 

As a school community, we have defined spirituality as being about the relationships shown in the following picture:
